On the heels of the first parable spoken by Christ in person, His disciples wait. After many go away and a few remain with Him they ask Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” Matt 13:10/Mark 4:10 Jesus then simply helped them see a division, a division of desire. Some will come just like they did, and some will not. In other words those who want to understand will come and ask; those who don’t won’t.
For the disciples this meant just what He said, and what He referred to from Isaiah 6; God brings those He calls, He leaves others confused. Many see and hear and do not respond but some do. This is the reality God has given and the church even today sees this.
“Get Wisdom at any cost!” the first 2 chapters of Proverbs cry. “If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasure, then you shall understand…” says Solomon Proverbs 2:4f. God Himself says, “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
The answer? Simply that those who desire will come, and their desire is a gift to draw them in John 12:32. So then I say to you, Come!
New Covenant Church is a simple, solid little church. And God is growing us little by little. Sometimes new folks come also. I invite you to be among them.
